Who we are, what we are, and why are we doing it

Our Mission

To expand the sport of lacrosse in West Michigan to all skill levels, genders, and ages.  To teach the specific skills needed not only to be a great lacrosse player, but also a great leader and community contributor.  To teach the Native American history of lacrosse thru our tournaments and clinics.  To create an affordable avenue for players of all ages and backgrounds to come together and enjoy playing & learning about lacrosse.

West Michigan Lacrosse was started in April of 2017 with an idea.  The idea was to create a club where learning the skills of the sport, and the origins of the sport were put forward of the winning of games.
Bruce George, Alex Pfeiffle & Toren Prawdzik, came up with the idea of WMLAX as an alternative to the ultra competitive clubs.  The thought was, could you create a club that teaches the skills to improve or learn the game, along with making it fun as well as educating players on the Native American origins of the game itself.
With a handful of coaches and the blessing of a couple local high school fields, WMLAX offered a summer session to a few local areas.  Soon numbers were coming in, 140 kids signed up for the inaugural season creating one of the largest teams in the area.  From there, WMLAX has expanded into hosting 7v7 tournaments, creating some fun & competitive player groups to travel to tournaments, hosting Native American demonstrations of traditional lacrosse, offering clinics & camps, and is working on a large tournament to host.  It has been a quick and exciting ride to where we are today, and we hope we can help coach your young player in the future.
